HCC Guiding Policy Priorities for 2011

• Encourage primary job creation for Henderson and Nevada. Primary jobs are jobs which produce goods and services that generate revenue from outside of Nevada.
  
  
• Oppose any new taxes on employers that is not equally distributed and determined to be absolutely necessary. Maintain a competitive and fair tax climate.
  
  
• Oppose unfunded governmental mandates.
  
  
• Support Education - creating an effective education system that produces a qualified workforce in a cost efficient manner.
  
  
• Support Healthcare - efforts to keep healthcare costs low for employers and employees. In addition, the Chamber supports programs and initiatives designed to increase the quality of healthcare delivery, access to services for community members and support the financial viability of those that provide healthcare.
  
  
• Simplify the process to start and operate a business.
  
  
• Support Redevelopment - business reinvestment opportunities in appropriate Henderson areas to generate renewed growth and job opportunities.
  
  
• Support an effective transportation system that increases productivity for our citizens.
  
  
• Support the reevaluation of the current tax structure.
  
  
• Enhance International Competitiveness by promoting international business development.
  
  
• Support the legislative process rather than the initiative process.
