Titus letter to Federal Reserve Board Chair
Congresswoman Dina Titus sent a letter to the Honorable Ben Bernanke, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve thanking them for the work that he and his agency are doing to help restore fiscal responsibility and fairness in the financial industry.
She points out that in Southern Nevada business owners are struggling to gain access to credit that they urgently need to expand their business or to start a new one. She notes that she has been told that access to credit has been severely restricted in Southern Nevada. She shares that many small business owners have shared insights into their personal financial history, explaining that while the performance of their business has remained consistent, they have recently been denied credit by both smaller local financial institutions and large, nationally chartered ones. Based on meetings with bankers and small businesses in Southern Nevada she expressed her concern with the recent regulatory guidance and its impact on Southern Nevada.
The Congresswoman requested a meeting to discuss with him and his staff to discuss the instructions and guidance that his agency is giving to fiancial institutions in Southern Nevada related to lending. Ensuring credit is available to those who qualify is vital for the economic recovery in Southern Nevada.
